URL Encoder & Decoder
Percent-encode text for a URL component or encode a complete absolute URL while retaining its structure. Unicode is handled in your browser; input is not uploaded or saved.
Use URL Component for one value. Full URL requires an absolute URL such as https://example.com/path.
Enter text or a URL component to encode or decode.
Choose the right URL mode
URL Component uses JavaScript component encoding for a single value, such as a query parameter value. It encodes reserved characters like & and = so they remain data, not separators. Spaces become %20; a plus sign is encoded as %2B. This is not HTML form encoding, where spaces may be represented as +.
Full URL requires an absolute URL and uses the browser's URL parser and serializer. It keeps structural separators such as the scheme colon, slashes, query markers, ampersands, equals signs, and fragments. Spaces become %20 and Unicode is percent-encoded as UTF-8. Existing valid %HH escapes are retained rather than encoded again. The URL serializer may normalize the scheme or host, convert internationalized host names, remove default ports, resolve dot segments, or add a trailing slash.
Full URL decoding converts percent-encoded spaces and UTF-8 text, while escaped reserved characters such as %2F, %26, and %3F remain escaped so they do not become URL structure. Malformed percent escapes, invalid UTF-8, control characters, and URLs that cannot be parsed are reported as errors. For an individual query value containing reserved characters, use URL Component mode.
URL encoding is not encryption and does not protect private information. The tool works in this browser page; it does not send or store the input.
