A PRACTICAL LIST PICKER

Random Choice Picker

Turn a list into a clear, random selection. Add one choice per line, then pick one or several distinct choices.

Add one choice per line. Blank lines are ignored.

Your picked choices will appear here.

How your list is handled

Enter one option on each line and choose how many results to pick. Blank lines are skipped, leading and trailing whitespace is trimmed, and spaces inside a choice stay intact. Exact duplicates are removed case-sensitively, keeping the first occurrence, so “Blue” and “blue” remain separate choices.

Multiple results are drawn without replacement, so a choice cannot repeat within one pick. If you ask for more results than there are distinct choices, the picker reports the limit instead of returning a partial list. Use Pick again to start a new draw from the same entries.

Worked example: draw from raffle tickets

Enter one line per ticket

  • Jo — 101
  • Jo — 102
  • Jo — 103
  • Kai — 104

For a casual equal-chance draw, pick one result: each listed ticket is one choice, so Jo has three entries and Kai has one. Repeating identical text does not add entries because exact duplicates are kept once. Weighted rules need distinct ticket entries or a separate weighting feature.

Choice picker FAQ

Can I pick the same choice twice?

Not in one selection. Multiple results are unique. Pick again starts a new selection from the current list, where a choice may appear again across separate picks.

Does the list leave my browser?

The selection runs in your browser and the list is not sent to a RandomTools application server. The site’s hosting provider may still process ordinary technical request information.

Is this suitable for a high-stakes drawing?

The picker uses the browser’s Web Crypto random-byte API with rejection sampling, but it has not been independently audited or certified. Use it for casual choices, not regulated drawings, gambling fairness, or consequential decisions.
