JSON Formatter & Validator

Format JSON with two-space indentation, remove formatting whitespace, or check whether the input parses. Processing happens in this browser page.

Use double quotes around strings and property names. JSON does not allow comments or trailing commas.

Enter JSON to format, minify, or validate.

Using the JSON formatter

Paste or type a JSON value, then choose an action. Format adds line breaks and two spaces of indentation; Minify removes optional formatting whitespace; Validate checks the input and shows it unchanged in the output. The input is not rewritten when it is invalid.

JSON accepts objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null. Property names and strings require double quotes. Comments and trailing commas are not part of JSON syntax. Error wording can vary between browsers, so a parser message may differ by browser.

Formatting changes whitespace and may change how object properties are displayed. Do not rely on a particular property order as a universal JSON guarantee. JavaScript numbers use finite precision, so very large or highly precise numeric values may change when parsed and serialized. This tool processes data locally; it does not send or save the input.
